Do you believe in UFOs or not?

Do people have contacts with extraterrestrial civilizations? Is this even possible? Or are they schizophrenics and scammers? Let's try to figure it out. Contacts with other minds...

Contacts with other minds...

This question, akin to Hamlet’s “to be or not to be,” is becoming increasingly acute today. The point is that recently the number of publications in the press has been growing exponentially, the authors of which claim that they telepathically, in the form of a dialogue, receive various information from Extraterrestrial Intelligence According to one of the organizers of the conference of contactees in Dnepropetrovsk, S. Orlovsky, this phenomenon is becoming widespread, according to them, more and more people are getting in touch with aliens and inhabitants of other dimensions, and even with the Universal Mind. a presentation of entire teachings affecting the fundamental problems of the universe, the evolution of the Universe, not to mention the destinies of humanity.

Are there contacts with alien civilizations? There are!

However, as long as contactees limit themselves to “cosmic revelations” and stories about life in other worlds, their evidence can be perceived as an entertaining fantasy. There is no great harm from them. But when on the pages of some publications they begin to publish recipes for treating cancer, allegedly received from the inhabitants of the 4th measurements, it's time to sound the alarm.

First of all, the main question should be asked: to believe them or not?

Researchers of this phenomenon have divided the information they receive into three categories:

- information of a moral and ethical nature, addressed either to humanity as a whole or to the contactee himself;
- specific applied information that can be verified in practice;
- personal “advice” to the contactee.

So, the analysis of “revelations that came from outside” gave interesting results. Moreover, only people who claimed to maintain constant contact were studied.

For the first category, the evaluation criteria were social significance, novelty of information and the presence of followers who use the information obtained as a result of contact. Alas, the results were disappointing. According to expert A. Bogdanovsky, the messages mostly boiled down to too general calls like: “People must repent,” “Fate is preparing cruel trials for humanity.” Or they repeated statements already known from ancient esoteric sources like: “Humanity will exist for 500 centuries,” “The Earth’s atmosphere is filled with dead vibrations.” In addition, different contacts often gave mutually exclusive answers to the same question.

The situation was no better with the second category.

“The contactee was asked to indicate the location of the missing person,” says A. Bogdanovsky. - I note that in order to simplify the processing of the received data, the question was asked about the person the police had just found. But neither the researcher nor the subject knew the last fact.

The result was this: out of 110 contactees who took part in the experiment, only one person gave correct information about the whereabouts of the missing person; 52 avoided answering, the rest gave the wrong answer.

It follows from this that the contact cannot serve as a source of information of practical value.

Finally, in the third group, a comparison of the information received by contactees and the data of psychological testing revealed a very clear relationship. For example, a power-hungry person was told that he was the “savior of humanity”; a person with a penchant for self-sacrifice was told that he “bears the cross of past lives,” etc. Thus, the contactee “heard” what he, albeit subconsciously, wanted to hear .

Well, “sensational” information about other worlds simply cannot be verified. Their reliability can be indirectly judged by how correct the applied knowledge reported by the contactee is. But, as a rule, they don’t exist. And other worlds often turn out to be too similar to our earthly civilization. This may indicate the poverty of imagination of either the Supreme Creator, who created worlds according to one template, or the contactee, which is more correct.

However, the question remains: why is the number of contactees now growing so rapidly in our country? Some of them explain this by saying that Russians as a nation are distinguished by high spirituality, and therefore Reason, standing at a higher stage of evolution, chooses Russians for contacts. But on the territory of the former USSR, among contactees there are many people of other nationalities, in particular Ukrainians. This means that the reason does not lie in ethnicity.

The answer to this phenomenon is suggested by doctors who study the human psyche. According to experts, we are not talking about mass psychosis. As the famous researcher of anomalous phenomena V. Azhazha reported at the same conference in Dnepropetrovsk, out of 106 contactees who underwent a medical examination at the Moscow UFO Center, only 47 were diagnosed with schizophrenia. And the results obtained by prominent foreign scientists, such as the director of the American Institute of Abnormal Trauma R. Leibow and the Japanese doctor Nakagawa, indicate that many contactees are mentally absolutely healthy.

The reason is different. Investigating neuroendocrine regulation from the perspective of information theory, Professor A.I. Belkin and A.I. Rakitov established an important pattern. It turns out that the hormones produced by the pituitary gland and adrenal glands in different situations have different effects on the adequacy and inadequacy of a person’s behavioral, emotional and other reactions. Moreover, in specific situations, the main role is played not only by various hormones, but also by their quantity and sequence of entry into the endocrine system. Figuratively speaking, our brain is a photographic plate; irritants coming from the environment are the light effect on it, and hormones are the developers and fixers of specific mental activity corresponding to the given environment.

Most of all, our psyche is traumatized by the situation of anxious anticipation of future events, when a person cannot influence them, and therefore, the outcome of the situation is beyond his control. This is partly explained by the fact that evolutionarily he is not prepared for the phenomenon of anxious anticipation. There are no similar situations in the animal world, because this requires not only developed self-awareness, but also the ability to predict the development of events.

Of course, this situation affects different people differently. For those whose psyche is stronger and more stable, it may not cause noticeable changes at all. It’s a different matter if a person is very vulnerable or tends to overreact to the environment. In a situation of anxious anticipation, trying to protect themselves, the psyche of this category of people tries to isolate themselves from the real world with its anxieties and worries. This, in particular, can be expressed in an unconscious desire to create for oneself some kind of comforting connections with subjects that do not exist in reality, be it aliens or the Supreme Intelligence.

As history shows, troubled times, that is, periods of rapid social change and cataclysms, are always accompanied by a surge in passion for mysticism and the occult. In other words, people’s desire to escape into the fictional world of castles in the air. Nowadays, their role is often played by contacts with extraterrestrial civilizations. A kind of information reserve appears, protecting the psyche from further disorganization. As for the information coming from contactees, it is appropriate to quote the warning of Elizabeth Loftus, a psychologist at the University of Washington in Seattle: “Remember that the brain is weak. He is characterized by a thirst for fame, money, attention, envy and other feelings that can prompt him to seek a way out in fantasy. A slight incentive is enough for him to begin creating a mirage.”
